The development of MTB Twente
From the first idea to the official launch: this page shows the key moments, updates and milestones of MTB Twente.
April 5, 2026: MTB Twente is live
Today MTB Twente officially goes live. After months of building, testing and refining, it’s finally happening: mountain bikes are now available for rent in Oldenzaal, right next to Het Hulsbeek.
Hopefully, many people will get to experience how great mountain biking in Twente can be.
Timeline
This is how MTB Twente takes shape step by step. New highlights are added here over time.

Official launch
Today MTB Twente goes live. What started as an idea has grown into a real rental concept: a working automated system, a physical location and bikes ready to go.
Now the real part begins. Hopefully this leads to many great rides in Twente.
April 2026
First booking and media attention
Even before the official launch, the first booking comes in: a British couple finds MTB Twente via Google. They’re out for hours, a good sign.
Around the same time, MTB Twente appears in two local newspapers, giving the launch some extra visibility.
March 2026
Testing and final preparations
A few small things still need work, but overall everything is in place. The website runs, the system works and the bikes are ready.
Time to test. With help from friends and family, everything is tried in practice: booking, access codes and the full rental flow.
February 2026
Scaling up
The Sensa Livigno XC XT proves to be the right choice. The first bike performs well, so it’s time to scale up.
More bikes and helmets are added. MTB Twente becomes something tangible: a full setup ready for real use.
January 2026
The backend works
On the surface MTB Twente looks simple, but behind the scenes quite a lot happens automatically.
The system checks availability, assigns bikes and generates a personal time-based access code that is sent by email.
After a lot of building and testing, it works: the first test booking successfully unlocks a bike.
November 2025
Finding the right bike
Many manufacturers are contacted, but there’s little interest or discount. The idea is still too small.
Then Sensa comes into view. The response is positive and the Livigno XC XT turns out to be a perfect fit.
October 2025
The website is live
The website starts to look like a real company. All key pages are there and the concept feels complete.
Analytics are connected and the first search traffic appears — even if it’s mostly just the owner.
August 2025
The concept becomes real
The idea becomes clear: a fully automated system where customers pick up bikes using time-based codes.
Finding the right lock is difficult, but eventually the right solution is found.
June 2025
It becomes real
The KvK registration is done, a business account is set up and the domain names are secured. Things start to feel serious.
May 2025
The idea
The idea starts during a trip where renting a mountain bike turns out to be unnecessarily difficult.
That’s where it clicks: this should be easier.
