Rental Terms & Conditions
Last updated: March 2026
1. Applicability
These rental terms apply to all mountain bike rental agreements with MTB Twente. By making a reservation, the renter accepts these terms.
2. Reservation and cancellation
- Reservations and payments are made via our website. A reservation is only valid after payment has been received.
- The renter is responsible for providing correct personal information when making a reservation.
- You can cancel up to 24 hours before the start of the rental period. Within 24 hours before the start, no refund is possible.
- In case of extreme weather conditions, such as thunderstorms, storms or icy roads, the renter can contact us in advance to reschedule by mutual agreement.
- When making a reservation we process personal data such as name and contact details. See our privacy policy for more information.
3. Pickup and return
- MTB Twente operates an unmanned service. The renter picks up the bike, uses it with care, and returns it independently.
- The renter is responsible for the correct use of the provided access codes and may not share these with third parties. Misuse of access codes may lead to the reservation being blocked.
- Wearing a helmet while using the bike is strongly recommended.
- The correct frame size is selected during the reservation process. In principle, switching to a different size after booking is not possible.
- The bike must be returned no later than the agreed end time and in any case before 20:00. Late returns may incur additional charges.
4. Breakdowns on the road
- Each rental includes a basic emergency kit for simple repairs, such as fixing a puncture.
- MTB Twente does not offer a pickup service. In case of a breakdown, the renter is responsible for returning the bike to the drop-off location.
5. Damage and wear
- The renter receives the bike in good condition and is expected to check it at the start of the rental.
- Normal signs of use from regular riding are acceptable and are not considered damage.
- Damage or defects beyond normal wear must be reported to MTB Twente as soon as possible and no later than 24 hours after the end of the rental period.
- If damage occurred due to a demonstrable defect or faulty condition of the bike before use, the renter is not liable for this damage.
6. Theft and loss
- During the rental period the renter is responsible for loss or theft of the bike. The bike must always be properly locked and may not be left unattended.
- In case of theft or total loss, the renter is liable for the replacement value of the bike of €1,000. In case of theft, a police report must be filed.
- The bikes have unique identifiers and/or registration systems to enable recovery.
7. Liability
- Use of the bike is at your own risk. MTB Twente is not liable for damage or injury during the use of the bike, unless in case of intent or gross negligence by MTB Twente.
- The renter is liable for damage to the bike that is not the result of normal wear and tear.
8. Force majeure
MTB Twente may modify or cancel the agreement in cases of force majeure, such as extreme weather conditions or technical failures. We will look for a suitable solution in consultation, for example rescheduling the reservation.
9. Governing law
These rental terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in Overijssel.
